Community Involvement Programs Art as a tool for community involvement The content of my craft in community project centers on multi-cultural and unifying themes, expressing the essence and similarities of diverse cultural ideologies through art. The various venues provided allow individuals to work as a team to positively impact their community. I provide an avenue of dialogue that emphasizes humane life through self-actualization and expanded awareness of one's integral role in a site based and global community. That dialogue may be articulated visually through an interactive exhibition of my art, a lecture/discussion or workshop. I have designed a multi-cultural ceramic tile workshop that explores the artistic merit of other cultures, facilitates communication and team building skills for participants from diverse socio-economic, educational, and ethnic backgrounds. Different mediums for production and available. The workshop provides an avenue for open discussion of ethnic issues and individual responsibility for constructive change. Working as a team, participants create a multi-cultural mural, which would serve as a positive media message and be donated, if desired, to a public facility. A public facility is ideal for maximum media exposure. Thematic renderings can be numerous and placement is obviously at the discretion of the contractor. My workshop fee is based on location, hours per day plus expenses. Prices for paint supplies, tiles, firing and installation are based on site specifications, participant ages and numbers.
