Eugenia
Marve is an award winning educator, international
artist, motivational speaker and gifted intuitive. She
was born in Flint Michigan in 1948 and received her
Master of Fine Arts Degree from Michigan State
University in 1974. After serving as Artist in Residence
for the State of Michigan, she began teaching for
Michigan’s, Grand Rapids Public Schools in 1976. She has
worked in diverse areas of education as a coordinator
and instructor in Alternative Ed., K-12, Adult
Compensatory Education, Drug Rehabilitation and as
Visiting Assistant Professor at Michigan State
University. As a director and coordinator in Education
and the Arts, Eugenia has created community service
programs that addressed students’ self-esteem and
retention rates. Responsible service and her belief in
the power of one has been a driving force in her
holistic approach to education and creativity. She
melded art and service, emphasizing esthetic excellence
as a state of “being”, carrying Urban Youth beyond the
classroom into community involvement. She provided
students an opportunity to be of service, to appreciate
their voice and their power for good. In 2006 Eugenia
received an award from Governor Jennifer Grandholm for
her commitment to Urban Youth and the Arts.
